Activity Info

Each food walking tour includes mouth watering food tastings from the various specialty and food shops that we will pass along the way on a different “off-the-beaten-path” gastronomical route around central Athens. A tour you surely do not want to miss while you are in Athens.

We meet at the Korai street where the tour begins. An array of colors sights and sounds engulf the visitor and, at once, activate the senses. Along the way you will walk the city’s quaint spice street, browse through mom-and-pop specialty shops selling local wine, olive oil, cheese or olives, and sample what’s behind the glass counters at family-run delicatessens. The aromas of fresh, out-of-the-oven, savory pies, the tempting displays of Greek pastries and sips of Greece’s strong and tasteful spirits round out the food tour. We will expertly guide and explain things to you en route and provide valuable insight not only about the unique and intricate culinary heritage of the Greeks but also of the cuisine we have all come to know as Mediterranean.

We took this food tour after reading reviews. It didn't quite live up to our expectations. Thought we might stop in more shops for more tastes of different foods. It was the beginning of our trip and we wanted to know of foods to eat while we were there. This was not exactly how it went. Had a really great gyro at the end. But that's about it. Not worth the money we spent.

It was a very good tour. I enjoy a different view of Athens. I loved the colors and the pictures in the market. The meat market is an unexpected experience, really you can meet East and west in this area of Athens. Thank you Key tours!

The tour began promptly at 10 and after brief introductions and a little history of Greek cuisine and influences from other countries, we were off!

We stopped at about 10 different locations and sampled local foods that were known to me as a tourist from the USA.

Each food had a story behind it, so as well as cuisine we got a little history lesson as well.

Our tour guide, Despina, answered all of our questions, pointed out places of interest and let us shop at each stop if we were so inclined.

Although to price may seem high, it is definitely worth doing early on in your visit to Athens as you will learn about local food spots that charge local prices which will save money in the end.

This was a very worthwhile 3 1/2 hours and I bought several tasty items to bring back to the states!

We booked the Athens Food Tour for what turned out to be one of the hottest days of the summer. We were surprised and delighted to taste the variety of items available - although my absolute favorite was Loukamades (greek donuts drenched in honey). Our guide Amalia was great - very knowledgeable about the food but also well-informed and talkative about current Eurozone events and the impact on Greek society. We found the conversation very enlightening and the food (both in quantity and quality) to be excellent. The Greeks eat a lot!
We allotted about 2.5 hours for the tour but our group was small (4 of us) and Amalia was willing to spend extra time with us so we ended up spending about 4 hours altogether - which was wonderful.

Even with 100+ heat, the tour was great. We moved at a nice pace that didn't tax anyone in the group and spent plenty of time inside restaurants and markets so the temps didn't really matter.

This has been a wonderful experience. I was simply amazed by this tour, going around parts of Athens which I would have never visited any other way, eating all that traditional food, talking with locals, laughing, laughing, laughing!

Fantastic fun and an experience not to be missed! For our second visit to Athens, my husband and I
wanted to do something different. We decided on the Athens Food Tour  ~ I
would highly recommend it to any person interested in getting off the 'beaten tourist path'!

Our tour guide and the company owner, was absolutely engaging and genuine - she connected
with us more as a friend than as a guide. The tour itself was unlike any other my husband and I have
taken (which includes great private tours in cities including Rome, San Francisco, Victoria, Istanbul, NYC,
Cairo)
The places we visited (not touristy) highlighted some of the country's best food and included delicious
items to try - high quality and generous portions.

Truly a one of a kind food experience!
