While your stay in Zakynthos dont miss the opportunity to visit the magestic island of Kefalonia. After a scenic ferry ride, enjoy an island bus tour led by an expert escort and visit all the highlights such as the impressive Drogarati Cave, the breathtaking Melissani underground lake, the beautiful Argostoli which is the capital of the island and many more.
After your morning pick up from your central located hotel in Zakynthos, head to port and board on the ferry for Kefalonia.
At the start of the tour you will see the Venetian castle of St George's as we pass by. This was the capital of Kefalonia until the end of the 17th Century.
First stop will be the monastery of St. Gerassimos, the patron of the Island who was known for his miraculous abilities to cure people with mental illness. The monastery is considered one of the most sacred pilgrimages in Kefalonia and is situated under the imposing Mount Ainos.
Next we head to the impressive Drogarati Cave, located outside of Sami, with its fine stalactites & stalagmites. Experts estimate that the cave is about 150 million years old.
Continuing on to Melissani Lake and Cave. Take a short boat trip on the lake located within the cave and experience the fantastic colors of the water as the sunlight is reflected through the open roof.
Our next stop will be at the town of Agia Efimia. You will have time here for lunch, a stroll or souvenir shopping. After we drive towards Argostoli along the west coast of the island and have a short photo stop at the viewpoint overlooking Myrtos Beach. This is followed by a short break in Argostoli for a nice stroll around the square.
The ferry boat departs Kefalonia at 18.00 and arrives back in Zakynthos at approx 19.45. You will then be transferred back to your resort.
Departure: The tour departs every Thursday from Zakynthos Town Port at 08.00 and every Sunday from Skinari Port at 09.45. Please provide your hotel upon booking in order to inform you about meeting point details.
Drogarati cave: There are 118 Steps to walk down and then obviously up. Comfortable walking shoes are necessary.
You should change money before the tour, as there is not money exchange en route.
