Milos is one of the four volcanoes in Greece and due to its volcanic history is an open geological museum offering the chance to witness some unique geological phenomena.

Begin with a short guided tour at the Milos Mining Museum, where the history and stories of the people of Milos and their mining life takes form. Next stop are the famous Salt fields where with the help and knowledge of your experienced escort, you will go through the history of the Salt fields and learn about the port of Kanava and its importance from the Middle Ages, leading up to the early 20th century.

Continue to the volcanic south of Milos and visit the crater of of Fyriplaka. Pass through the steep entrance of the crater and continue down a slippery road that leads to a clearing right in the center of the crater, where the old cedar trees abide. Admire the fumaroles and visit the observation standpoint of Ag. Kyriaki beach which offers panoramic views over the south west Aegean Sea.

After the volcano, tour takes you to the southeast of Milos and the famous Sulphur Mines of Milos, one of the most important mines of the geological history of Greece. This is the phantom city of Milos where the actual mines were open and the miners had created an entire, almost completely independent community until the 1950s when the site was abandoned almost overnight and the operation of the mines was ceased abruptly. At present, the area features the beautiful beach surrounded by the gaping holes of the mines, the abandoned facilities and houses of the miners which are left to mercy of time and oxidation. Driving to the north you will catch a glimpse of the modern mining activity and finally admire the modern mineral processing factory.
