Cape Sounion is approximately 70 kilometers (43 miles) southeast of Athens. The journey typically takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on traffic and the chosen route. 

The scenic drive along the coastal Poseidonos Avenue and the Athenian Riviera is a highlight in itself, offering beautiful views of the Saronic Gulf.

On our tours, we limit the group size to a maximum of 49 travelers. However, the typical group size is usually around 40 passengers, which is ideal for ensuring you get the best experience from group travel.

The best time of year to visit Cape Sounion is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months. During these periods, the weather is mild and pleasant, with comfortable temperatures for exploring the archaeological site and enjoying the stunning views of the Aegean Sea. These seasons also see fewer tourists compared to the peak summer months, allowing for a more peaceful and relaxed experience.

If you're looking to avoid crowds and don't mind cooler weather, winter (November to March) is another option. The site is much quieter, but it can be colder, and some facilities might be closed or have reduced hours. Summer (July to August) is the most popular time to visit due to the warmer weather and longer days, but it also comes with larger crowds and higher temperatures, which can make the experience less enjoyable, especially during midday.

For the best overall experience, spring and autumn provide the ideal balance of good weather, fewer visitors, and beautiful scenery.
