About Town of Mykonos

Soak up the atmosphere along the lively waterfront and admire a fleet of fishing boats casting colourful reflections in the azure waters. While you’re out strolling, don’t be surprised if you come across the official mascot of Mykonos, which is nothing other than a... pelican!

One of the most scenic corners of the island is Alefkántra or “Little Venice”, an 18th century district, dominated by grand captains’ mansions. With balconies perched over the sea, pictures of the famous Italian city spring to mind. Relax at a waterfront café and admire the view of the quaint windmills standing imposingly on the hillside above, set against a luminous blue backdrop.

The Windmills are the quintessential features of Mykonos’ landscape. There are plenty of them that have become a part and parcel of Mykonos. They are conspicuous by their snow-white colour, spherical shape with the customary pointed roof made of the finest variety of wood. In the good old days, they were wind operated as Mykonos is renowned for the gusty wind, which continues to blow even today.

Using the Hóra as your base, set out on a trip to discover the sun-kissed beaches of the island where wild parties keep the crowds of all ages and tastes rocking day and night.

Just off Mykonos is the sacred island of Delos. The island is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece, and certainly the most important in the Cyclades. Ferries depart from the Old Jetty at the western end of the harbor.
