Oia, the charming village of Santorini and Akrotiri, the best preserved prehistoric settlement in Greece come together with Fira, islands capital, in this interesting shore excursion package.
Meet your guide and board your motorcoach and proceed to the archeological site of Akrotiri. Often compared to Pompeii, Akrotiri boasts a much earlier age and preserves amazing ruins dating back to the second millennium BC. Walk through the well kept passage way in the excavated area and marvel at the beautiful pottery, the two and three story houses, which were once decorated with renowned wallpaintings, the staircases and a great variety of rooms, roads and squares of a city 3,500 years old!
Return to your motorcoach and continue on through the beautiful countryside to Oia village. Built on the northern part of the caldera rim, it is here where many artists have been inspired due to its magnificent location, as you will see for yourself, with its most superb views of the caldera, the rest of the island itself and Aegean Sea. A guided tour combined with free time will be offered.
After Oia drive to Fira town. Fira is an attractive town perched on the Caldera rim where the land slopes gently in one direction and falls steeply in to the sea in the other. There you will have the choice either to enjoy the town at leisure or perhaps return directly to your ship by the spectacular cable car. All tickets for cable car will be delivered by your guide, in advance.
